Azerbaijan Railways to resume trips to Moscow by late 2013

Azerbaijan Railways CJSC plans to fully restore the movement of its trains on the Baku-Moscow-Baku route after the return of coaches sent for repairs, head of the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC press service Nadir Azmammadov told Trend on Friday.

Azerbaijan Railways CJSC plans to fully restore the movement of its trains on the Baku-Moscow-Baku route after the return of coaches sent for repairs, head of the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC press service Nadir Azmammadov told Trend on Friday.

Currently both Azerbaijani and Russian (Russian Railways JSC) trains are travelling on the aforementioned route, he said.

"The remaining coaches will arrive in the country by the end of this year which will provide a full return of our trains to this route," the press service head said.

Russian Railways JSC trains started to work on passenger routes to Moscow and St. Petersburg due to major repairs of Azerbaijani Railways coaches.

Azerbaijan Railways CJSC has already received 52 of the 76 coaches that were sent to the Ukraine and Russia for repairs. Some 46 of the 60 coaches, sent for repair have returned from the Ukraine and six of the 16 cars have returned from Voronezh, Russia.

Previously the deputy head of Azerbaijani Railways CJSC Gurban Nazirov said 100 new passenger coaches are planned to be bought as part of a train fleet update. It is also planned to purchase 50 locomotives for cargo carriages and 12 locomotives for passenger transportations.
