Iran's Minister of Labor, Cooperative and Welfare Ali Rabiei held a meeting with Brazil's Minister of Social Security Garibaldi Alves Filho.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Third Global Conference on Child Labor in Brasilia, the Mehr News Agency reported.

During the meeting the two ministers agreed to start examining a joint project to boost welfare programs in the both countries.

Rabiei also stressed that Iran considers combating child labor as a religious and moral duty.

"Children under 15 are not allowed to work in Iran," he said.

Rabiei also held a meeting with his South African counterpart on the sidelines of the conference.

The Third Global Conference on Child Labour - hosted by the Brazilian Government - provides an opportunity for governments, social partners and civil society to reflect on the progress made since the previous global conference held in the Hague in 2010, and to discuss the ways to step up global efforts against child labour - especially its worst forms.
