Iran’s wheat imports suffer decrease both in weight and value

Iran has imported some 1.639 million tons of wheat, valued at $655 million, during the first seven months of the current solar year (started on March 21), which indicates a decrease by 53.14 percent in terms of volume and 45.95 percent fall in terms of value respectively, compared to the same period of the last solar year.

Iran has imported some 1.639 million tons of wheat, valued at $655 million, during the first seven months of the current solar year (started on March 21), which indicates a decrease by 53.14 percent in terms of volume and 45.95 percent fall in terms of value respectively, compared to the same period of the last solar year.

According to Iranian Custom Administration's latest monthly report released in November, Iran has imported 270,639 tons of wheat, worth $91.27 million during the last Iranian calendar month (September 23- October 22) which indicates increase by 134.59 and 103.1 percent in terms of volume and value respectively compared to the preceding month.

The country's wheat imports reached 2.922 million tons, worth $1.215 billion during the last nine months of the 2013.

The figures indicate a fall by 7.70 percent in terms of volume and increase by 12.48 percent in terms of value compared to the same period of the preceding year, the report said.

Iran also imported 1.444 million tons of livestock feed corn, valued at $581 million, during the first seven months of the current solar year, which indicates fall by 54.34 and 48.62 percent in terms of volume and value compared to the preceding year's first seven months.

Iran imported some $ 75.105 millions of livestock feed corn, amounted at 188,246 tons during the the last Iranian calendar month (September 23- October 22).

The figures indicate 540 and 579 percent increase in terms of value and volume respectively compared to the previous month.

Iran's oilcake imports stood at 1.395 million tons, worth $917 million during the first seven months of the current solar year, which indicates a decrease by 16.68 and 9.53 percent in terms of volume and value respectively, compared to the same period of the last solar year.
