Around one million jobs will be created in Uzbekistan in 2014

The Uzbek Senate (the upper house of the parliament) has recently approved a job creation and employment programme for 2014.

In total, around 983,600 new jobs are planned to be created in the country as part of the programme next year.

In their speeches, the senators stressed that the programme was worked out by the Uzbek Cabinet of Ministers taking into account the potential of areas, rational use of labour resources, demographic factors and structural changes in the economy, as well as full promotion of efficient employment form development and citizens' entrepreneurship initiative.

New jobs will be created in Uzbekistan by commissioning new industrial facilities, reconstruction and expansion of existing enterprises and further stimulation of the development of small businesses, crafts, private and family entrepreneurship and services.

Particular attention is being paid to the employment programme for women, the disabled and other groups in need of social support, as well as more than 500,000 graduates from professional colleges, providing them with jobs for their acquired specialty.

It was previously reported that around 972,700 new jobs are planned to be created in accordance with the corresponding programme in Uzbekistan in 2013.

According to the Uzbek Ministry of Economy, around 833,400 new jobs including more than 488,000, or 58.6 per cent in the villages were created in January -September 2013.
