President: Romanian companies intend to participate in projects in Azerbaijan

Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb.5

By Emil Ismayilov - Trend:

Jointly with Turkish companies, Romanian companies intend to participate in the implementation of projects in the Central Asia, as well as in Azerbaijan, Romanian President Traian Basescu said on Feb.5 during a press conference during his official visit to Turkey.

The Turkish companies are represented in Azerbaijan in energy, construction, food sectors, as well as in the service and tourism spheres.

Today, over 2,000 companies with Turkish capital operate in Azerbaijan, which accounts for 36 percent of the total number of international companies operating in the country. Meanwhile, over 1,100 Azerbaijani companies operate in Turkey.

Azerbaijani companies are also represented in the Romanian market. For instance, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) owns a filling station network in Romania.

Additionally, during the press conference, the Romanian president invited the Turkish investors to participate in projects in the country, particularly in the spheres of food industry and agriculture.
