Azerbaijani Railways CJSC to continue road reconstruction to west

Azerbaijani Railways CJSC will begin work on the overhaul and reconstruction of the remaining sections of the Baku-Boyuk Kesik road during 2014, CJSC spokesman Nadir Azmammadov told Trend on Feb.12.

Earlie CJSC completed the overhaul of 317 kilometres of the Baku-Boyuk Kesik road using a 215 million euro loan allocated by the Czech Exim Bank, according to the spokesman. Earlier, CJSC also carried out work on the reconstruction of another 95 kilometres of this section of the railway.

"The total length of this railway section in both directions is 1005 kilometres, of which 412 kilometres was overhauled. Repair work is needed in the remaining 593 kilometres of road," Azmammadov said.

Currently CJSC is carrying out work to determine the financing source of the work, according to the spokesman. The repair of the road can begin in the first half of this year, according to preliminary data.
