By Abbas Akhundov - Trend:

The Business Council of the Organisation of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) and the International Congress of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs signed a cooperation agreement in Baku on Feb.20. The agreement was signed during an international high level forum on the involvement of the private sector in the development of the agro-food chain.

Azerbaijan has carried out important work for many years to reduce the economy's reliance on the oil and gas factor, as a result of which the agricultural sector is developing dynamically, according to the president of the Azerbaijani National Confederation of Entrepreneurs Mammad Musayev.

The products from agricultural enterprises which are growing in the regions, are sold not only in the domestic market, but also exported to foreign countries, according to Musayev.
"The development of an agro-industrial complex will be one of the priorities in 2014 which was declared the Year of Industry in Azerbaijan," Musayev said.

Azerbaijan carries out great work in the sphere of agriculture, Sub-regional Coordinator of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) for Central Asia Mustapha Sinaceur said at the forum.

"Currently, the FAO and the country's Ministry of Agriculture are working to create a separate structure in the spheres of agrarian marketing and business," Sinaceur said.
The parties are holding negotiations on creation of this structure and FAO will provide every support towards its work.
