Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expressed satisfaction with the fact that after the municipal elections Turkey on March 30, he makes his first visit to Azerbaijan by tradition.

Turkish prime minister made the remarks at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku.

"We paid this visit together with our friends - the ministers and MPs and we had the opportunity to discuss the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, as well as regional issues. As a result of very meaningful discussions, the basis, on which the views for the two countries' future is built, with a foreign trade turnover reaching $15 billion, becomes stronger day by day," Erdogan said.

"As pointed out earlier by the president of Azerbaijan, the goals of Azerbaijani investments in Turkey are really huge. The most significant among them is of course the TANAP project. The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a decision regarding the execution of this project. In the coming months, the steps will be taken in this case. I believe that in 2018, when we achieve our goals related to TANAP, this international project will significantly strengthen our fraternity," Ergodan noted.

Alongside with this, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, Shah Deniz-Erzurum project are really the most important investments showing how strong are the bonds between Azerbaijan and Turkey, Erdogan said.

"The unity and solidarity between us in the political, military, cultural, economic and trade spheres are bright examples showing the high level of our fraternity. I believe that together we will make very serious investments in the future. In particular, the investments that we make, and will make in the gas sphere, the process that began in Petkim earlier in this connection and the new investments in Petkim, reflect the significance of these steps. Our solidarity, our fraternity will continue with the same firmness after this as well. The parties do not have any concern about this issue. We had the opportunity to discuss this issue in details during our one-on-one meeting. We also had the opportunity to appraise this during the meeting with participation of delegations," Turkish PM noted.

Erdogan went on to add that the ministers of the two countries had discussions on what can they jointly do in the sphere of energy and defense industry.

"If you noticed, the number of high-level visits between Azerbaijan and Turkey has begun to increase recently. The number of meetings between the presidents, prime ministers and ministers continues to increase day by day. No doubt, all this will continue in the future too. We are as always decisive in this matter," Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

Erdogan went on to say that the parties also had the opportunity to discuss the Karabakh issue once again.

"We will continue to demonstrate our decisive position on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue - the position which we have demonstrated up to now. Concessions can not be a subject of discussions in this matter. Once again, I want, especially those who watch us, sitting in front of screens to know about this. I express my deep gratitude especially to media representatives for the hospitality extended to us. Much obliged to you," Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
