Iran's minister of transportation and Urbanism Abbas Akhoundi met with Tajikistan's minister of transport Kharullo Asoevich in Tehran on April 9, IRNA news agency reported.
During the meeting, Akhoundi said that Iran is ready to provide its territory for railway transit of Tajik cargo to the Persian Gulf countries.
On the basis of the agreement between Iran and Tajikistan five thousands trucks annually transit cargo between the countries.
Akhoundi also stressed that Iran has potential to increase the number of trucks.
He also said that the junction of the railways of Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and China, in the nearest future, will allow to boost trade between these countries as well as decrease transit fees and simplify the process of passenger and freight transport.
