The 14th CIS Oil & Gas Summit was dedicated to the development of existing major projects and new strategies in the Oil & Gas industry across the CIS region. The Summit covered various topics, including current trends that affect the CIS oil & gas sector, technical and financial challenges, policies and regulations and other subjects.

The Summit brought together key policy makers, national oil companies, international oil & gas majors, service providers, and engineering and other companies.

Turgay Teymurov, EY Partner and Oil & Gas Leader for Azerbaijan, gave a presentation on local content policy in the CIS and around the world.

"A well-constructed and managed local content program contributes to the economic development and value creation of a nation. Norway is a great example. The government played an important role in building local capabilities and the industry provided full support for the growth. CIS countries and Azerbaijan, in particular, have been working on local content development in three key areas: goods and services, people and sustainability. To date, there has been good progress toward these goals. However, ambitious targets have not yet been fully achieved. Governments and the industry have a number of common goals in these areas and continued dialogue, which is currently taking place, will benefit everyone," said Turgay Teymurov.

The summit has become the flagship event in the oil & gas sector in the CIS. EY was one of the sponsors of the event.
