Planes of Uzbek airlines start flights to Volgograd

Uzbekistan Airlines (Uzbek Havo Yullary) has started regular flights on its Urgench-Volgograd-Urgench route.

"This route hasn't emerged by accident. The results of the demand studies revealed that namely the Volgograd region of Russia is popular among the passengers from Uzbekistan," Uzbekistan Airlines said.

The opening of new flights will allow the residents of the Volgograd region to establish new ties in the sphere of business and become familiar with the tourism facilities in Uzbekistan, according to the company.

The new Urgench-Volgograd-Urgench flight of Uzbekistan Airlines will be carried out by Airbus A320 airliners on Fridays, according to the Uzbek company. The flight duration is 2.5 hours

Uzbekistan Airways is the monopoly carrier in Uzbekistan and is wholly owned by the state.
Its fleet currently consists of 31 aircraft of western production, including 13 Boeings (four 767-300, five 757-200 and four 767- 300-ER), 13 airbuses (three A-310 and 10 - A-320- 200), three medium-range RJ- 85 planes and two airbus A300-600F cargo planes.

Uzbekistan Airways conducts flights to 21 cities in Europe, America, the Middle East, Asia, and in 23 cities of countries of Commonwealth of Independent States and 11 destinations on local airlines.

The Uzbekistan Airways planes conducted 24,559 flights in 2013, as compared to 24,835 flights in 2012 (down 1.1 percent), according to the company.

Uzbekistan Airlines carried 2,677 million passengers in 2013 or 1.6 percent more than in 2012. The volume of freight transportations (including baggage transportation) totaled 41,000 tonnes in 2013 compared to 40,000 tonnes in 2012.

The official exchange rate on April 25 was 2276.19 soums/$1.
