The first Forum on economy and cooperation of Arab countries with Central Asian states and Azerbaijan, to be held in May in Riyadh.

The event will have significance in expansion of ties, Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia for Economic and Cultural Affairs Yousef Terad Al-Saadon said at the meeting with the Azerbaijani Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev in Baku.

As the guest noted, he was in Azerbaijan for the first time and expressed satisfaction with the dynamic socio-economic development going on in the country.

It was noted at the meeting that there is a wide range of opportunities to increase trade between Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan, as well as hold meetings to improve evelopment of trade and economic ties.

Shahin Mustafayev said that cooperation in various fields, including economy, continues successfully between the two states, adding that effective activity of the joint commission plays the role in the development of economic relations.

"Azerbaijan has turned into a political, economic and cultural center of the region," he said.

The Azerbaijani minister also provided the guest with information on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noting that Saudi Arabia has always supported Azerbaijan's position on this issue.
