Uzbekistan positive about cooperation prospects of "LAS - Central Asia and Azerbaijan"

The foreign, finance and economy ministers of the member-states of the League of Arab States (LAS), five Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, discussed the development of cooperation in trade, economic and investment fields, transport and tourism.

The discussions were held during the first session of "The Arab League - Central Asia and Azerbaijan" economic forum, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on May 13, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said.

The Uzbek delegation headed by the Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov attended the plenary session of the forum.

The purpose of the "the Arab League - Central Asia and Azerbaijan" forum is to promote cooperation between the Arab League, the Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan in political, economic, cultural and scientific fields.

The Riyadh Declaration and Memorandum of Cooperation among the Arab League and the Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan were adopted at the forum.

During his visit to Riyadh, the Uzbek Foreign Minister and Saudi Foreign Minister discussed the state and priorities for further development of bilateral relations in a separate meeting.

The parties positively assessed the prospects of new format of interregional cooperation of "LAS - Central Asia and Azerbaijan" which should become an important platform for supporting policy dialogue, expanding of trade-economic, transport and communication, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

The sides also exchanged views on some international and regional issues.
