Georgia’s exports to Azerbaijan drops by almost 10 percent

Slightly more than one-fifth, or 20.2 percent of Georgia's exports in January -April 2014, fell to Azerbaijan, Geostat (National Statistics Office of Georgia) said in its report on foreign trade.

Around $188.45 million worth of goods were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January -April, 2014, according to the report.

Export to Azerbaijan has decreased by 9.83 percent compared to the same period of 2013. By comparison, about $208.99 million worth of Georgian goods were exported to Azerbaijan in January -April, 2013.

Armenia ranks second for the volume of goods exported from Georgia; around $104.48 million worth of Georgian products (11.2 percent of the total export volume) were exported to this country, the report said.

Russia ranks third for the volume of export of Georgian goods. Georgia exported some $87.23 million worth of goods (9.4 percent of the total volume of export) in January -April, 2014.

The trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan made $391.98 million in January -April, 2014. Around 11.4 percent or $3.44 billion of Georgia's foreign trade turnover falls to Azerbaijan, which is by 14 percent more than in the same period of 2013.
