Some 135,901 cars have been produced in Iran in the first two months of the current calendar month (March 21 - May 20).

The figure shows a 92.5 percent increase compared to the same period of time previous year, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported on June 2.

Sedan cars accounted for 115,589 percent of the mentioned amount, some 92.3 percent more than previous year.

Iran also produced 19,332 pick-up trucks, 955 trucks, 17 buses, and 8 minibuses in the mentioned period.

Iran produced 989,110 cars in 2012, which made the country Asia's eighth largest car manufacturer, and world's 18th.

China, Japan, South Korea, India, Thailand, Turkey, and Indonesia were Asia's seven largest car manufacturers.

Iran's automobile output faced a 40 percent decrease in 2012. The country was Asia's 5th largest car manufacturer in 2011, with a total output of 1,648,505.

Increasing prices of raw materials and foreign currencies are the main problems that the car manufacturers are facing with.
