The National Bank of Kazakhstan proposes to build a model future development of Almaty's regional financial center, on the base of development model of London international financial center.
The Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Kairat Kelimbetov said that the development model of London's financial center with special territorially segregated financial zone can be acceptable for further development of the regional financial center of Almaty.
Kelimbetov said there is a preposition to consider Islamic financing a priority direction of activity of the Almaty center.
As the head of the National Bank said, today there are tendencies that the world's major financial centers of global and inter-regional significance are concentrated in North America, Europe and Asia.
Kelimbetov said thus there is an "exchange void" between these centers in Eurasia, and this void stimulates the capital outflow from the developing stock markets into global financial centers.
"Considering the modern financial world map with uneven concentration of financial centers in geographic regions, the Almaty center could become a powerful impetus to the cooperation of countries within the CIS," he explained.
The idea of development of Almaty as a regional financial center was first voiced by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2004.
The main goals of establishment of a financial center are to develop the securities market, to ensure its integration into international loan markets, and to attract investment in Kazakh economy through the securities market as well as to provide access of foreign issuers on the special trading floor of the financial center.
