Uzkimyosanoat State Joint Stock Company and Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine are working out a feasibility study of the construction project of a new complex fertilizer production plant with a preliminary price of $ 380 million, Uzkimyosanoat representative told Trend on June 9.

"The government instructed Uzkimyosanoat State Joint Stock Company and Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine to prepare a preliminary feasibility study for the approval of the government by late October 2014," according to the statement.

The plant can produce 145,000 tonnes phosphate and 150,000 tonnes of NPK-fertilizers, namely, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in various proportions, and 650,000 tonnes of sulfuric acid per year.

The plant is planned to be built in the Navoi region on the basis of phosphorite deposits in the Central Kyzylkum in 2015-2017.

The plant with an estimated cost of $ 380 million is planned to be financed through foreign loans and domestic resources.

It was previously reported that Uzbekistan plans to transfer $ 100 million to expand production of phosphate raw materials in the Central Kyzylkum by attracting foreign companies in 2014-2018. The program envisages increasing production at Jeroy field, which is the main raw material resource base of phosphorus, by 2.4 times - up to 3.6 million tonnes of ore per year.

The production of mineral fertilizers decreased by 9 percent to 1.11 million tonnes in Uzbekistan in 2013 compared to 2012, according to the statistics. The production of nitrogen fertilizers decreased by 7.8 percent - to 869,700 tonnes, potash fertilizers - 1.3 times to 84,600 tonnes, phosphate fertilizer production increased by 2.7 percent - up to 156,600 tonnes.
