An expert council on the protection of domestic market from dangerous and substandard products will be created in Kazakhstan, Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Consumer Rights Protection of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Uranhaev said.

A comprehensive plan on the improvement of the consumer protection system for 2014-2015 was approved with a governmental decree on June 7. In accordance with the plan, the Expert council will be created within the agency on protection of the domestic market from dangerous and substandard products, " he said.

Today the issue of ensuring product security and quality is ahead of everything else in the country, according to the deputy chairman. It is planned to hold reorganization of the laboratory research centers nationwide by means of the improvement of the research quality through the modernization of the exiting equipment. The funds in the amount of 7.7 billion tenge ($ 1 - 183 tenge) is considered to be allocate for this purpose.

Over 40, 000 studies of product samples have been carried out from the beginning of the year, as a result it was revealed that more than 850 products do not meet the set requirements. The ban was imposed on the import and sale of poultry meat from Belarus, cheese from Ukraine, alcoholic beverages from Italy, France, Scotland, Russia, Australian beef, grapes from Peru and canned meat from the Russian Federation, he said.

It is considered the introduction of the "Unified database of product safety"
integrated information system for the safety of products imported and sold in the country, according to Uranhaev.

"This system will allow to carry out control at all stages of import and circulation of products and ensure the transparency of holding procedures on compliance conformity in online regime," the deputy chairman said.

Agency with the assistance of the World Bank plans to create the Central Asian training center for food safety.

"The center will educate the business operators on new control methods with the use of international standards," he concluded.
