The group of companies of Kazakhstan's KazPV project (Аstana Solar, Kazakhstan Solar Silicon LLP and KazSilicon LLP), Qatar Solar Energy (QSE) and the U.S. Clean Power Innovation signed a memorandum of cooperation on supply of silicon, solar cells and plates to Qatar.

The signing ceremony took place in Astana on June 20, Kazakhstan's national atomic company Kazatomprom said.

The memorandum is aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership with Qatar Solar Energy in the sphere of renewable energy sources. This document gives Kazakh producers the chance to supply solar silicon of KazSilicon LLP, the photovoltaic plates and the grey cells of the Kazakhstan Solar Silicon LLP to the Qatar market.

The Clean Power Innovation will ensure the quality of raw materials supplied to Qatar.
The two sides will hold negotiations to agree on the volume and timeframe for the supply of Kazakh products to Qatar and will sign offtake agreements with Kazakhstan Solar Silicon LLP and KazSilicon LLP.

Qatar Solar Energy opened vertically integrated PV module production facilities in the Doha industrial zone of Qatar in early June as part of the state program for development of renewable energy sources.

Given that Kazakhstan is among three countries supplying the main raw material for production of silicon panels, the director general of Qatar Solar Energy, Salim Abbassi proposed to work out a joint project for production of solar grade silicon for the needs of the QSE plant.
