Turkey reduces import of goods by over nine percent

Turkey reduced the import of goods by 10.3 percent in May, 2014, compared to the same month of 2013, a message posted on the website of Turkish Statistical Institute said on June 30.

Turkey's export has increased by 3.6 percent in May compared to the same month of 2013 and made up $13.750 billion, the message said.

Turkey's export to EU countries stood at $6.022 billion during the reporting period, which is 16 percent more than in the same period of 2013.

The country's export to Germany amounted to $1.372 billion, while the export to Iraq stood at $1.052 billion, according to Turkish Statistical Institute.

Moreover, Turkey's import from China totaled $2.112 billion, Russia - $2.096 billion and Germany - $1.887 billion in May, the country's Statistical Institute said.
