As of June 1, the deposits of Azerbaijan's population in banks amounted to 6.64 billion AZN, the website of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan reported.
This figure rose by 3.9 percent from the beginning of the year. For comparison, on January 1, 2014 , the population's deposits in domestic banks amounted to 6.4 billion AZN.
Population's deposits increased by 12.8 percent compared to the same period last year. On June 1, 2013, the figure was 5.9 billion AZN.
There are 44 banks operating in Azerbaijan, one of which is parastatal [state participation in the capital of the International Bank of Azerbaijan is 50.2 percent].
The official exchange rate on July 1 is 0,7844 AZN / USD.
