Amount of non-bank deposits increases in Georgian banks

The volume of the non-bank deposits in the banking sector as of July 1, 2014 exceeded 10.2 billion lari ($ 1 = 1.76 lari), which is 290.1 million lari or by 2.9 percent more than as of June 1, the Georgian National Bank said on July 25.

The demand deposits increased by 349.4 million lari (8.1 percent) in June compared to the previous month and time deposits decreased by 59.2 million or 1.1 percent.

The deposit dollarization ratio was 61.59 percent or by 0.34 percentage points more than as of June 1.

The average one-year interest rate on term deposits was 6.1 percent, including the deposits in national currency - 8.6 percent, and in foreign currency - 5.4 percent.

The dollar share in foreign currency deposits amounted to 81.1 percent, the euro share - 16.4 percent.
