Azerbaijan has improved its positions in the ranking of the competitiveness of the world’s countries, ranking 38th among 144 countries, according to the Global Competitiveness Report 2014-2015, disseminated by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Azerbaijan has improved its positions in the ranking of the competitiveness of the world's countries, ranking 38th among 144 countries, according to the Global Competitiveness Report 2014-2015, disseminated by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The Competitiveness Index for Azerbaijan amounted to 4.53.

According to the previous rating for 2013-2014, Azerbaijan ranked 39th among 148 countries.

According to the sub-index rating, the country ranked ninth in the macroeconomic sphere, while 33rd on the efficiency of labor markets.

Switzerland was the most competitive country in the world. Besides Switzerland, the top five includes Singapore, the U.S., Finland and Germany.

The WEF report ranked Russia 53rd. Estonia ranked 29th and remains the leader in the post-Soviet area as in the previous two years. Besides Azerbaijan in the upper half of the rating, Lithuania ranked (41), Latvia (42), Kazakhstan (50).

WEF rankings are based on a combination of available data and the results of a survey of business executives, a comprehensive annual survey conducted by the World Economic Forum together with its national partners - leading research institutes and companies that specialize in issues of competitiveness and economic development in the countries analyzed in the report.
