Azerbaijan increases polyethylene production by over 10 %

Azerbaijan produced 58,000 metric tons of polyethylene in January-August 2014 or 10.4 percent more than in the same period of 2013, the State Statistics Committee's report as of January-August 2014 says.

Azerbaijan produced 34,600 metric tons of propylene in January-August or 26.2 percent more compared to the same period of 2013, says the report.

In 2013, the republic produced 76,000 metric tons of polyethylene or 13.9 percent more compared to 2012.

In January-August 2014 there was a decrease in the production of other main chemical products in Azerbaijan, the report says.

In January-August the country produced 11,170 metric tons of solid polyethylene pipes, tubes and hoses, which is 41 percent less than the same period of 2013.

During the period Azerbaijan also produced 164.5 metric tons of porous polyurethane plates and strips, which is 60.5 percent less compared to January-August 2013.
