Azerbaijani entrepreneurs were invited to participate in the first Asian business forum in the retail and distribution of consumer products, which will be held in Astana November 6-7, said a statement posted on the website of the Azerbaijani Fund Export and Investment Promotion (AZPROMO).

Business Forum will be held under the slogan "Revival of the Silk Road."

The event will be attended by 5,000 people from the CIS countries, China, Turkey and others. Among them are the heads of the companies-importers, manufacturers, retail business, companies from the scope of logistics and others.

The National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan and "B2B Conference Group" are the organizers of the event.

Revival of the Silk Road Project involves the creation of new opportunities for the development of trade relations between Asia and Europe, the unification of efforts of many countries at different levels of economic development and different political ways of life.

The European Commission organized a meeting of representatives of the states of Central Asia and the Caucasus, as well as the EU in May 1993 in Brussels. The purpose of the meeting was to consider the possibility of integration into the world economy of the newly independent states - the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus. And above all was the development of transport and communication systems. The issue of creating TRACECA - Transport Corridor of Europe - Caucasus - Asia was considered at the Brussels meeting. This meeting was the first practical step in the revival of the Great Silk Road.

It is an additional advantage for Kazakhstan and Russia, since it considers the transit of goods through the Northern transport route from Asia to Europe.

The Eurasian transport corridor (TRACECA, the Europe-Caucasus-Asia) transported 33.5 million metric tons of cargo through the territory of Azerbaijan in January-July 2014 compared to 34.1 million metric tons in January-July 2013, says the report of the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

Around 50 percent of the total volume of transported goods accounted for vehicles, 34.1 percent - trains and 15.9 percent - ships, the report says.

Around 178.2 million people (7.6 percent more than in the same period of 2013) were transported through the corridor in January-July.

The revenues from transportation of goods via the corridor for this period amounted to 289.6 million AZN or 9 percent more than in January-July 2013. The revenues from passenger transportation amounted to 62.5 million AZN in January-July or 12.8 percent more than in the same period of last year.

In 2013, the Azerbaijani segment of the corridor transported 59 million metric tons of cargo or 3.8 percent more than in 2012. Some 285.2 million people were transported within the corridor last year or 9.3 percent more than in 2012.

The revenues from transportation of goods within the corridor in 2013 amounted to 476.4 million AZN or 7.5 percent more than in 2012. The revenues from passenger transportation last year amounted to 106.5 million AZN, which is 15.8 percent more than in 2012.

TRACECA is an international cooperation program in the field of transport between the EU and partner countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. The organization has a permanent secretariat in Baku.

TRACECA member states are Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Iran.

B2B Conference Group (BBCG) was founded in 2000 and throughout its history was engaged in the analysis of problems of business management on the consumer market in Russia and the world as well as increasing the efficiency of interaction of its participants. The company is a leader in the organization of the annual summit of the first business people in key sectors of the Russian economy: retail trade, consumer goods and agricultural products issuance, and in sphere of consumer services.
