By Huseyn Veliyev - Trend:

Azercell Telecom has created an opportunity for use of its base stations by other mobile operators of Azerbaijan in order to provide mobile services, the President of Azercell Telecom Kirill Gaburici told Trend Sept.19.

He added that the company has the most extensive network of base stations in Azerbaijan, the benefits of which can be used by both new Naxtel operator and other market players under the "domestic roaming" of mobile market of the country.

"We began to share resources of our base stations with competitors. I believe that the mutual use (of base stations resources) will be very effective for mobile operators, as it will eliminate the need for unnecessary cost for installation of their own stations near the existing ones on the territory of the Republic," Gaburici said.

At the moment the project of combining base stations is widely practiced by leading mobile operators in the world. The main objective is to apply European standards to optimize service provider networks and improve the ecological environment.

Creating a single network infrastructure, according to international practice allows operators to save on construction of new stations. Furthermore, a united operation of the base stations may be cheaper, due to the effective sizing. Optimization of the network can be done by the transfer of the stations to the places that lack them.

Naxtel, CDMA wireless operator of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, received a license for network deployment of the fourth generation (4G) on the territory of the Autonomous Republic.

Currently, the operator is preparing to switch to a new standard of communication (GSM).

There are 3 mobile operators in Azerbaijan: Bakcell, Azercell and Azerfon (Nar Mobile brand).
