Furnaces of 'Silicium Kazakhstan' silicon plant will be partially launched in October 2014, Kazinform reported with the reference to chairman of Kazakh National Holding Baiterek Kuandik Bishimbayev.

"We have completed all legal work and returned the plant to the Investment Fund of Kazakhstan," he said. "And we expect that this enterprise will be launched in the first decade of October."

"We are working together with investors from Samruk-Tauken to ensure the start of furnaces' ignition at the factory," Bishimbayev said at the press-conference on Sept. 22.

Silicium Kazakhstan is located in Karaganda region, Kazakhstan.

It is expected that the plant which stood idle for over five years, will produce some 1000 metric tons of silicon by the end of 2014.
