The charter and legal documents are planned to be approved soon to launch the activity of the National Centre for Nuclear Research, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies Iltimas Mammadov told reporters Sept. 25.

"At present, the work is underway to prepare them and to determine the location of the center," he said. "A program is being prepared. All these issues will be resolved by late 2014."

"After the preparatory work is over, the partner-countries and the necessary technologies will be determined," Mammadov said.

President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on May 8, 2014 to create the National Center for Nuclear Research CJSC under the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies for using nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes.

According to the order, the National Center for Nuclear Research CJSC with state-owned shares is being established under the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies. It is being created taking into account the need to use nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes in accordance with the modern requirements and national interests, as well as to improve the material and technical base in the sphere of nuclear technologies, highly qualified human resources and to expand research.
