Croatian businessmen are interested in working in Azerbaijan, particularly in the pharmaceuticals industry and road construction, Croatia's former president, Stjepan Mesic said, according to the Economy and Industry Ministry of Azerbaijan.

Mesic made the remarks Oct. 3 in Baku at a meeting with Azerbaijan's Economy and Industry Minister Shahin Mustafayev.

The ex-president expressed his satisfaction with the pace of development of the Azerbaijani economy.

During the meeting the parties mulled the economic relations and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Croatia.

They also noted the special importance of the 4th Baku International Humanitarian Forum, held Oct. 2-3, in enhancing international cooperation.

Minister Mustafayev, for his part, said there is a great potential for expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Croatia.

He added that Azerbaijan is an initiator and active participant of major infrastructure projects, including the Southern Gas Corridor.

"Today, Azerbaijan is not only an attractive country for foreign investments, but it is also becoming their exporter," Mustafayev said.

The minister also briefed Mesic on the establishment of industrial parks in Azerbaijan, including the benefits presented for businessmen's activities at the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park.
