A private-public partnership is formed in Azerbaijan to support the economic and business education program in secondary schools and universities in 2011-2013. The coalition is formed by Bakcell Ltd., Statoil Absheron, Chevron Khazar and Garadagh Cement OJSC as main supporters; and Pasha Bank, Saipem Azerbaijan, American Chamber of Commerce, Nobel Oil, Baker & McKenzie CIS, and PWC Azerbaijan as associate supporters. The partnership program is implemented by Junior Achievement Azerbaijan in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Central Bank, and the United States Agency for International Development.
During the three years of program activities, Junior Achievement will work in 260 schools throughout Azerbaijan and support 10,490 students to learn applied economics through training for 300 Economics teachers. JA Azerbaijan will prepare 1,017 secondary school and university students for their career through work-readiness training, competitions and on-site work experience. JAA will teach 180 university students the fundamentals of personal finance and banking industry through financial literacy training and interactive contest. 225 students will learn entrepreneurship by organizing and operating school-based business enterprises with the support of volunteers representing business community. The program will also foster ethical decision-making in 900 students through business ethics training and responsible business competition. In total 2,605 students will participate in surveys and evaluations on work ethics, employability, financial literacy and entrepreneurship at the end of each school year.
Ultimately, the program will help developing the business workforce in Azerbaijan through economic and business training for students and educators.

Using its global experience, JAA's School Economic and Business Education Program in Azerbaijan will bring theoretical and practical knowledge of basic economic and business components to secondary school and university students by fostering work‐readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship skills.
