Ukraine and Azerbaijan are cooperating on the organization of cooperation in space industry staff training, Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alexander Mishchenko told journalists.
"National Aviation Academy of Azerbaijan (NAAA) with the participation of Dnipropetrovsk National University (DNU) named after O. Gonchar began training of Azerbaijani specialists in the space industry," he said.

He noted that the NAAA with the participation of the faculty of Dnipropetrovsk started the training of 60 students for the following specialties: an engineer on space technology, an engineer on space techniques, the engineer on space technology and space management systems, and master's degree in space engineering techniques and technologies in 2012-13 academic year.

Azerbaijan's first telecommunication satellite (Azerspace-1) will be delivered to the Kourou spaceport in late 2012, and its launch is scheduled for the first decade of February 2013.

The French Arianspace will send the satellite into orbit.

Azerspace's manufacturer is Orbital Sciences Corporation. An orbital position of 46 degrees east longitude has been leased from Malaysian satellite operator MEASAT. It is expected to be launched in 2015.
