International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (INTELSAT) aims for close cooperation with Azerbaijan`s "Azercosmos" OJSC satellite operator, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and High Technologies reported.

The remarks were made within the framework of the meeting of Azerbaijani Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov with the Intelsat Chairman and CEO David McGlade and the Intelsat President Stephen Spengler.

Abbasov informed the Intelsat management on the Azerbaijani satellite program and further plans on the launch of the telecommunications satellites and the Earth sensing satellite into orbit.

At present "Azercosmos" JSC and Intelsat discuss promising areas of possible cooperation, which can be the basis of interaction between the two operators in the future.
The Intelsat management visited the main earth control station of the "Azerkosmos" JSC satellite, where there was an exchange of views on the issues of mutual interest.

Intelsat International Organization provides commercially use of communications satellites and related equipment necessary to ensure the quality and reliability of communications services in all regions of the world. The organization uses it owns satellites placed in geostationary orbit, and provides communication services and TV broadcasting.

Intelsat was founded in 1964 as an intergovernmental organization. Is includes more than 140 countries. Intelsat space grouping consists of more than 50 satellites.
