By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

Azerbaijani postal operator - Azerpost offers to reduce money transfer tariffs via Secured Transfer of Electronic Financial Information (STEFI), the head of the postal service department of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and High Technologies Novruz Mammadov told Trend on June 24.

STEFI system was developed by the Postal Technology Center of the Universal Postal Union. At present, Azerpost conducts urgent money transfer services via STEFI to Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Russia, Kazakhstan and the UAE. The service will be launched with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan by late 2014.

Mammadov said that currently, there are countries where the commission fee for money transfer service via STEFI reaches 6-7 percent.

"Azerbaijan offers to reduce the commission fee to 2-3 percent," he said. "The commission fee for money transfer via the system in Azerbaijan is the lowest compared to other countries. Nevertheless, Azerbaijani postal operator is ready to reduce the commission fee from 1.5 percent to one percent."

The main advantage for Azerbaijani postal operator is that the income obtained as part of the transactions via STEFI system remains at its disposal.
