France's Airbus Defence and Space has implemented the project on launching a low orbit satellite into orbit in cooperation with Azerbaijan's Azercosmos JSC, Azerbaijani Minister of Communications and High Technologies, Ali Abbasov told reporters on July 3.

Abbasov pointed out that he means the Remote Sensing Satellite, SPOT-7 that was put into the orbit on June 30, 2014.

Currently, negotiations are underway on transferring the management of the satellite to Azercosmos JSC, the minister said.

This launch furthermore constitutes an important step in the process of finalizing a strategic cooperation agreement with Azerbaijani satellite operator Azercosmos, which is looking at joint use of satellites and to expand its own capacities in the field of geo-information, a message from Airbus Defence and Space said.

Azercosmos and Airbus Defence and Space signed an agreement in principle on this in
May, 2014.
