Azerbaijan sees significant increase in mobile and fixed Internet traffic consumption

The speed of incoming Internet traffic in the networks of mobile operators in Azerbaijan, according to the rating of NetIndex "Ookla", was 6.7 megabits / second in July 2014, according to the company's report on August 12.

The specified index increased by 17.5 percent compared to April.

The ranking shows the results of statistics indices of mobile operators in Azerbaijan "Bakcell", "Azercell" and "Azerfon". During the period of their network analysis, a maximum rate of incoming traffic was 6.86 megabits / second ("Bakcell"), 5.90 megabit / second ("Azercell") and 6.45 megabits / second ("Azerfon").

The average speed of outgoing traffic in mobile networks of Azerbaijan in July was 2.2 megabits / second, which is 25 percent more than in April 2014. In Baku, the figure was 3.46 megabits / second.

The maximum speed of outgoing traffic in July was 2.26 megabits / second ("Bakcell"), 1.96 MB / second ("Azercell") and 1.98 megabits / second ("Azerfon").

According to the NetIndex rating, the average rate of incoming fixed broadband Internet traffic in Azerbaijan increased by 32 percent to 6.4 megabits / second in July compared to the same period of April 2014. The figure was 7.04 megabits / second in Baku, 3.97 megabits / second in Sumgait.

The statistic indices of 20 Internet service providers and operators in Azerbaijan are given in the ranking. While analyzing their networks, a maximum rate of incoming traffic was 43.23 megabits / second ("CityNet" network). But the minimum is 2.3 megabits / second ("Azerin").

Fixed outgoing traffic speed in Azerbaijan increased by 59.2 percent to 4.3 megabits / second. The figure was 4.82 megabits / second in Baku, 2.16 megabits / second in Sumgait.

The maximum speed of outgoing traffic was fixed at 43.58 megabits / second ("CityNet" network), and the lowest - 0.47 megabits / second ("Azerbaijan Data Network").
