The billing systems of Azerbaijani state-run communication operators switched to the new version of TELNET - a remote access system, a source in Azerbaijan's telecommunications market told Trend Aug. 20.

The source said the system is introduced in two production associations - Baku Telephone Communication and Aztelekom.

TELNET's new version supports a cryptographic network protocol called the Secure Shell (SSH).

SSH makes it possible to remotely control an operating system, as well as to encrypt all data exchange, including the transmitted passwords.

The protocol allows securely sharing data in an unprotected environment via any other network protocol.

Users will be able to not only control a computer through a command shell, but also transmit audio and video via an encrypted channel.

Currently, this solution is also used to ensure the durability to virus attacks at the central servers of the Data Processing Center of Azerbaijani Communications and High Technologies Ministry.
