The number of heath e-cards issued by Azerbaijan's Heath Ministry to the parents of the newborn has increased by 8.1 percent in 2014, compared to 2013, Health Informatization Centre under the ministry told Trend on Jan.7.

The centre said that the number of issued heath e-cards increased by 64,710 in 2014, compared to 2013 and hit 855,315.

The health e-cards are prepared at the Public Health and Reforms Centre under Azerbaijani Heath Ministry and issued to the parents of the newborn and the patients of medical institutions through polyclinics free of charge.

Health e-cards contain information about the holder's personality, health and social insurance and other data.

The information is entered into a single database of health facilities through a local network, which ensures rapid exchange of proprietary information.

All maternity hospitals, maternity wards of hospitals and children's hospitals subordinate to Azerbaijani Health Ministry have been connected to this system.
