By Huseyn Veliyev – Trend:

The processing center of the Global Distribution System (GDS) in Azerbaijan (eltickets.net) will join Goldenpay and Millikart payment systems, Vugar Bakhshaliyev, the manager of the project for the processing center’s integration to the payment systems, told Trend.

GDS is a network operated by a company that enables automated transactions between travel service providers (mainly airlines, hotels and car rental companies) and travel agencies.

The project of GDS processing center’s joining Goldenpay and Millikart payment systems is implemented at the expense of the State Fund for Development of Information Technologies of Azerbaijan. The fund allocated 14,000 manats for the realization of the project, and these funds have been spent on the development of software for the system.

Bakhshaliyev said that in the coming days, it is planned to complete the work on the integration of the Goldenpay and Millikart payment systems to the portal eltickets.net, through which it will be possible to book airline tickets and purchase them online.

The launch of the local GDS processing center can significantly affect the cost of airline tickets, which will become more affordable for consumers, Bakhshaliyev said earlier.

The processing center will integrate a special interface with conditional access to the websites of tour operators, and using this access, the tour operators will be able to sell airline tickets.

Negotiations on the integration of local tour operators to the local GDS processing center are already underway. By connecting to the GDS processing center, tour operators will be able to gain access to the current tariffs of airline companies in other regions and buy tickets in a region which offers them at a lower price.

“For example, a ticket for Baku-Moscow flight of the Aeroflot airline company can cost 300 manats in Baku, 310 manats in Moscow and 208 manats in Berlin,” said Bakhshaliyev. “A tour operator, who works, for example, directly with the Galileo (computer reservations system used to store and retrieve information and conduct transactions related to air travel, hotels, car rental, etc.) can obtain the current prices only for Baku.”

“When connected to the local GDS processing center, the tour operator can gain access to the current tariffs of the airline companies in other regions and buy tickets where they are cheaper,” he added.
