The report on activity of Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers says that 178.7 million Azerbaijani manats were invested in the country’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector in 2016.
Enterprises and structural units of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Communications and High Technologies invested 84.1 million manats in the ICT sector.
Revenues of the ICT and postal communication sector of Azerbaijan amounted to 1.6 billion manats in 2016 that exceeds the previous year’s indicator by 4.5 percent.
The specific weight of the ICT sector in Azerbaijan’s GDP was 1.8 percent in 2016 and in the non-oil GDP – 2.7 percent.
The level of internet access stood at 78 percent in Azerbaijan in late 2016, says the report, the indicator of broadband access services was 73 percent.
