Baku, Azerbaijan, June 6

By Huseyn Valiyev – Trend:

Azerpost LLC, Azerbaijan’s postal operator, has launched e-money transfers via the STEFI (Secured Transfer of Electronic Financial Information) system to Kyrgyzstan, a source close to the project told Trend.

At present, e-money transfers via this system from Azerbaijan to Kyrgyzstan are available in one direction only.

“This is because certain technical issues remain,” the source said. “It will be possible to implement monetary transactions in both directions when the issue is resolved.”

In addition, Azerpost LLC plans to launch money transfers via the STEFI system to Estonia.

Currently, Azerpost LLC offers money transfer services via the STEFI system to Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Russia, Lithuania and Kazakhstan.

The STEFI system was developed by the Postal Technology Center of the Universal Postal Union. The main advantage of this system for the Azerbaijani post is that the revenues received from the transactions within the STEFI system remain at the disposal of Azerpost LLC.
