IT CONFERENCE IN AZERBAIJAN’S ONLY AUTONOMY

A two-day scientific-practical conference, Electronic Nakhchivan: problems and solutions, opened today in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Addressing the conference, minister for communication and information technologies, Ali Abbasov said that Azerbaijan’s communication sector grew 37.8 per cent last year. “Such performance put our country in line with Argentine, Brazil and China вЂ" the economies with the most rapidly growing communication and IT industries,” Abbasov said.

For his part, the chairman of the Supreme Council of Nakhchivan, Vasif Talibov said that the autonomous republic has been experiencing an unprecedented boom in the field of communication and information technologies. He stressed wide measures aimed to develop e-society in Nakhchivan, as well as the installation of digital-service automated phone stations, computerization of educational institutions, expansion of mobile network, etc.

Among the organizers of the event are the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Education of Nakhchivan, Nakhchivan State University, Institute of Information Technologies and Nakhchivan division of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
