The meeting with the Latvian IT delegation headed by the President of the Latvian Association of Telecommunications and Information Technologies Imants Freiberg took place on 3 October 2005 at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan (MCIT). The Minister of Communications of Azerbaijan Ali Abbasov noted at the meeting the latest achievements in the IT sphere, as well as measures implemented by MCIT in this respect, particularly, the legislation adopted, Trend reports.
According to him, the main objective of the government is to continue to carry out reforms aimed at liberalization of the IT market, privatization of enterprises, and establishing the regulating agency in this sphere.
Further, Abbasov reported the delegation on preparations to the forthcoming Summit on the Informational Society in Tunisia and voiced interestedness in development of cooperation in the communications field.
