Azerbaijan prepares for 2nd Tunisian stage of World Summit on Information Society

Azerbaijan prepares for the 2nd Tunisian stageof the World Summit on the Information Society WSIS, which will be held in Tunis from 16 to 18 November. Some meetings were held in relation to organization issues, Rasim Aliguliyev, the head of the working group on preparation for the Tusnisian summit, also Director of the Information Technologies Institute of the National Acedemy of Sciences, told Trend.

According to Aliguliyev, Azerbaijan, one of the organizers and sponsors of the summit, drew materials on the current state of the Azerbaijani information society in different spheres. “Besides, documental film �Azerbaijan in the Tunisian summit’ is being shot in relation to the event,” Aliguliyev noted.

The head of the working group underlined that besides the Communications and Information Technologies Ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Academy of Sciences took active part in the preparations. The exhibition will be held within the summit and the venues of the participated companies have been developed.

64 square meters is allocated for Azerbaijan at the exhibition, where almost all local IT companies such as Sinam, AZEL, R.Д°.S.K, Azercell, and Azeurotel will be presented.

The first stage of WSIS took place in Geneva from 10 to 12 December 2003, where the Azerbaijani delegation led by the Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev.
