The first CIS agricultural producer forum opened in Ashgabat today. The event will run three days. The forum will include a scientific and practical conference, product exhibitions, and talks with agricultural company and Agriculture Ministry officials.

During the opening ceremony, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow greeted the guests at the Sergi Koshgi Exhibition Palace.

Food security is presently a very potent issue in Turkmenistan.

CIS Executive Committee Chairman Sergei Lebedev lauded the organizers of the forum. The event is held under the patronage of the Turkmen government on behalf of ministries and departments included in the AIC and Turkmen Chamber of Commerce.

The scientific conference will discuss the sustainable development of agricultural businesses in the CIS, and cover crops and farming, cattle breeding, veterinary medicine, land reclamation and water use, automated agricultural production, agricultural product storage and processing, and forestry.

A concert will be organized for forum participants at the Mugham Palace tonight in Ashgabat.
