Russia intends to consolidate deliveries of Turkmen oil through Makhachkala

Russia intends to consolidate the deliveries of Turkmen oil through Makhachkala, Transneft, which operates in the field of oil and oil products transportation through the main pipelines of Russia, said.

Transneft held talks with Trafigura company, which offered to undertake the consolidation of all Turkmen supplies in this direction," President of Transneft Nikolay Tokarev said.

It was reported earlier that the first tanker with Turkmen oil arrived in the Russian port of Makhachkala in summer 2013 for further re-export of raw materials by Makhachkala-Novorossiysk pipeline.

It was also reported that the Makhachkala port requires extensive reconstruction for receiving additional volumes of Turkmen oil. Now the maximum carrying capacity of tankers in Makhachkala is 10,000 tons. The existing oil storage capacity of the port, as well as the lack of depth does not allow unloading large ships.
