Red ink appears in Azerbaijani trade turnover with CIS countries

Azerbaijan imported goods worth $992. 36 million from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in January-July 2009, or 30.65 percent of the country's total imports, the State Customs Committee said on Aug.22. Azerbaijan imported goods worth $2.71 billion in January-July.

Azerbaijan mainly imported grain (13. 82 percent of total import), land vehicles (8.09 percent), electric machines, equipment and spare parts (12. 08 percent) and tobacco (6.76 percent).  

Azerbaijan exported goods worth $835.93 million (11. 71 percent of total export) to the CIS.

The total export of the country was $7.14 billion.

Azerbaijan mainly exported mineral fuels, oil products, bitumen minerals (59.53percent of total export), vegetables (5.57 percent) and animal and vegetable oil (8.34 percent), sugar and confectionery products (4.62 percent), boats, ships and other floating equipment (3.83 percent) to the CIS.

Red ink worth $156.43 million appeared as a result of import and export operations.
