Kazakhstan ranks 64th among trading partners of Japan

Kazakhstan, Astana, Oct. 22 / Trend K. Konyrova /

Kazakhstan ranked the 64th in the list of Japan's trading partners, said Hiroyuki Ishige, the Japanese Vice-Minister for International Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry speaking at the first meeting of the Japan-Kazakhstan joint commission on economic cooperation in public and private sectors in Astana on Oct.22

"Kazakhstan occupies 64th place in the list of Japan's trade partners, but we hope that in future your country will take a higher position," Hiroyuki said.

According to Hiroyuki, China, the United States, South Korea, Russia and Ukraine top the list.

In 2008 the amount of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Japan was $1.61 billion. Cut in growth of trade turnover is associated with the global financial crisis, Hiroyuki said.
