Azerbaijani experts rescued Russian vessel

Ship "Fili" flying the flag of Russia and owned by Russian company "Vagna Shipping" suffered distress in the Andriyevsky banks of the Caspian Sea, informed source told Trend .

On October 26 at 12.30 the management of Maritime Rescue Coordination Center of the port of Astrakhan addressed Azerbaijani side with the request for assistance. Two vessels of specialized fleet of Azerbaijan: "Ayla" and "Avior" were immediately sent to disaster area to rescue the ship "Fili".

Preliminary cause of the accident is that the heavy storm flooded cockpit and the engine compartment, resulting in the ship's electrical equipment switched off and lost control.

At 08.15 on October 27 wrecked ship was taken in tow and now is being transported to the port of Baku.

According to preliminary information there are no victims or injuries among the crew of the ship.

At the end of last year Russian vessel Sarmat was in distress for similar reasons and was rescued by Azerbaijani rescuers. After repairs in Baku, it continued the movement, but this was preceded by trials on the question of Russia shipowner's payment for services rendered by Azerbaijani specialists.
