Work on disinfection in the Baku underground in connection with the identification of several cases of A/H1N1 virus infection in Azerbaijan continues, said on Sunday the Baku Metro Head Tagi Ahmedov.
"The process of disinfection has already begun, but after its completion the handrails [in vans] will be disinfected daily", said Akhmedov.
As previously said the chief engineer of the Baku underground Elbrus Muradov, all trains and stations are treated by special disinfectants (bromosept and chloramine).
So far, Azerbaijan has reported three cases of the swine flu. An Azerbaijani citizen was diagnosed with the A/H1N1 virus Nov. 4. The individual temporarily resides in Ukraine's Ivano-Frankivsk region, and returned to Kurdamir by rail Oct. 26. Two more cases of the swine flu were discovered the following day.
One patient is a relative of the aforementioned patient. The second individual also arrived from Ukraine in November.
As of Saturday, the state of two patients with "swine flu" in Azerbaijan, undergoing treatment at the Institute of pulmonary diseases, is satisfactory.
All medical facilities belonging to the Azerbaijani Health Ministry have upped their security due to the swine flu. The ministry has given instructions to medical personnel around the country to take preventive measures in their institutions and check all persons registered at each local clinic. According to the ministry, active measures are taken in children's clinics, schools and kindergartens.
The WHO has donated 300 million doses of a vaccine against the A/H1N1 virus to 90 countries, including Azerbaijan. The first shipment will be delivered to the country in November. Vaccination will be carried out among people at risk group.
