Swine-flu infected patient feels good: Azerbaijani head physician

Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 14 / corr. Trend U.Ismayilova

A swine-flu infected patient continuing treatment at the Lung Diseases Research Institute will be discharged from the hospital in a few days, Chief Physician Khayyam Mammadov told Trend today.

"The patient feels very good and has no symptoms of a virus," Mammadov said. "The patient will be released from the hospital if the results of the examination are satisfactory."

Azerbaijan has reported 14 cases of the swine flu. All the infected individuals have recovered. The first evidence of the flu in Azerbaijan was detected last summer.

All hospitals of the Azerbaijan Health Ministry are working intensively to prevent a pandemic strain of the virus. The ministry has given instructions to medical personnel throughout the country to carry out preventive measures and check all persons registered at local clinics.

The first batch of vaccines from the WHO will arrive to Azerbaijan in late November. The vaccinations will be carried out among risk groups.
